Handy Household Hints (Part 1)

Need to learn- or relearn- Homemaking 101 to keep your home neat and tidy? Let's hear it from the experts...

Post-It does it

Did you make a change to a cookbook recipe and want to remember it for the future? Write it down on a Post-It note and stick it right on that page.

New use for old hosiery

Fill in a section of hose with dried herbs such as rosemary or lavender, then tie off and hang in the closet or bathroom. Makes a great sachet.

TLC for Salad Bowls

Revitalize wooden salad bowls and cutting boards. Rub with cooking oil inside  and out, let sit  overnight- then remove excess with paper towels.

Banish paint odor

Alleviate paint smells from a newly decorated room by leaving an onion cut in half in the room.

Mashed banana does it

Apply mashed banana over a burn on your body to have a cooling effect.

Remove unwanted campaign stickers

The election are over and you are wondering how to get rid of all the campaign stickers you have graciously accommodated  One trick to try: cover these with a cloth soaked in a white distilled vinegar, or repeatedly spray this with full-strength white distilled vinegar. These should peel off in a couple of hours.
